It is very important to know about what medicine is given by the doctor, for what condition, and when it needs to be taken in what dose. This information given by the doctor is called Prescription. The patients should be familiar with the medicine prescription, and the details about the medicine before purchasing it and using it. Some medications need not be prescribed by healthcare practitioners and can be purchased and used without prescription by the patients; these are called over-the-counter medications. Read the drug prescription information of Amadine before taking it.

What is Amadine

How Amadine works against Parkinson disease is not known. It may increase a certain chemical in the brain.

Important safety information:

  • Amadine may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain medicines. Use Amadine with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to it.
  • Amadine may cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting; alcohol, hot weather, exercise, or fever may increase these effects. To prevent them, sit up or stand slowly, especially in the morning. Sit or lie down at the first sign of any of these effects.
  • Limit alcohol intake while you are taking Amadine. Talk with you doctor before you drink alcohol or use medicines that may cause drowsiness while you are using Amadine; it may add to their effects. Ask your pharmacist if you have questions about which medicines may cause drowsiness.
  • Do not become overheated in hot weather or while you are being active; heatstroke may occur.
  • Amadine only works against certain types of the flu; it does not treat other viral infections (eg, the common cold).
  • If you are taking Amadine for the flu, be sure to use Amadine for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The virus could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.
  • You usually should not receive a live nasal flu vaccine within 14 days before or 2 days after you take Amadine. The vaccine may not work as well. Talk with your doctor before you receive any vaccine.
  • If you are taking Amadine for Parkinson disease, increase physical activity slowly as your symptoms improve.
  • Do not suddenly stop taking Amadine without first checking with your doctor. Your dose may need to be lowered slowly to avoid side effects.
  • Neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) is a possibly fatal syndrome that can be caused by Amadine. Symptoms may include fever; stiff muscles; confusion; abnormal thinking; fast or irregular heartbeat; and sweating. Contact your doctor at once if you have any of these symptoms.
  • If your symptoms do not get better or if they get worse, check with your doctor.
  • Use Amadine with caution in the ELDERLY; they may be more sensitive to its effects.
  • Amadine should be used with extreme caution in CHILDREN younger than 1 year old; safety and effectiveness in these children have not been confirmed.
  • PREGNANCY and BREAST-FEEDING: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Amadine while you are pregnant. Amadine is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Amadine.

If you stop taking Amadine suddenly, you may have WITHDRAWAL symptoms. These may include agitation, hallucinations, paranoia, anxiety, depression, confusion, or slurred speech.

Select the most affordable brand or generic drug

Generic drug is the basic drug with an active substance in it, and the name of the generic drug is same as active substance most of the times. Like Acetaminophen/Paracetemol is Generic name and it has different brand names like Tylenol, Acimol, Crocin, Calpol etc. All these Brand names contain the same Paracetemol, but the medications are manufactured by different companies, so the different brand names. Generic drug is always cheaper and affordable, and it can be replaced in place of brand name drug prescribed by the healthcare practitioner. The Generic medicine has same properties as branded medicine in terms of uses, indications, doses, side effects, so no need to worry on that. Just select the most affordable generic or branded medicine.
